Many people think that offering health care to all of this nation’s citizens is not a cost effective way to go about things. Did you realize however, that the cost of not giving these people well care will increase how much we have to pay for them when they are suffering from a serious illness? Isn’t it essentially better than to pay for them to get the care that they need early and get diseases caught in the beginning stages instead of in the end stages, which can be much more costly?
Well, consider this, either way in most states if you walk into an emergency room to be treated, they will treat you regardless of your ability to pay, or whether you are an American citizen or not. Who do you think is paying these medical bills? You guessed it, we are.
Consider all the people who can’t afford to go to the doctor and stay sick. They still walk around the world, go to work, they have to. So they are infecting more people for longer periods of time than normal.
In our economic state, it seems crucial that all Americans have health coverage. Remaining healthy should be everyone’s right, regardless of their financial situation. Our citizens should feel safe to leave their home without risking infection.
If you think about the chunk of America that is the working class, you can see why we need such a program. The majority of Americans that are working for minimum wage cannot afford health care. We have programs for the elderly and poor, but not for this group of people.
