When you are new to homeschooling, you will probably begin searching for the best home school resource that you can find. Deciding to homeschool takes a lot of careful thought and planning as it is, then after you make the decision to homeschool you have even MORE work to do. Do not panic though; there is a lot of help available. The only problem you might have is finding the resources you need to guide you through the process.
Homeschooling is going to require some effort on your part. Believe me; working with your children is usually the easy part. The hard part is getting organized to the point that you are confident with your school structure and curriculum, as well as your record-keeping processes. This is where the best home schooling resource will come in handy.
When you begin homeschooling, there will be paperwork that needs filled out for your children to remain at home for the year. Some states make this a requirement, others don’t. The best way to find out what you need to do, is to call up the superintendent of your local board of education. They will let you know exactly what they need to excuse your children from school for the year.
You may find that there are other requirements depending on the State you live in, or country for that matter. Since we live in the US - we have requirements by state, but I’m sure there are also requirements by country too. You may even need to name and register your home school.
Most cities will have a local homeschooling resource center, or you can find local homeschool groups. On of my personal best home school resources has been our local homeschool group. Within these groups, you can get acquainted with other parents in your area that are homeschooling too. Many of these groups will have more experienced families that you can learn from. Not only that, they will often share in teaching duties, schedule field trips, classes and other fun things!
Personally, some of my best home school resources come from right online. That’s where I found my own homeschooling group, and a ton of great information. Folks online share things that they learn about, including fun FREE activities for homeschoolers! We got a chance to head to our local Zoo completely FREE just by paying attention to our groups posts. Your kids will love you for taking them out to socialize with the other homeschooling families.
Want to know how to get the best benefits for your homeschooling children? Start looking for homeschooling BLOGS. Many families have their own blogs that will teach you tips, tricks, give you all the good info on the free stuff, and more! Once you find a few homeschooling blogs you like, you’ll be hooked. After all, parents need some “socialization” with the adults too, right?
